Ice Cream Wear

I would call myself a pretty active person.  I workout 5-6 days a week, depending on the week. I’m also a busy stay at home mom of two.  Being fashionable is not at the top of my list.  Comfort and versatility are important in my life.  90% of the time my hair is in a ponytail, so I try to “look cute” by changing up my headbands.

I was really impressed with the headband I received from Ice Cream.  Not only was it super stylish, but it was extremely comfortable.  I put it on in the morning to run my errands, and wore it throughout my PiYo workout.  It didn’t move, and it kept the hair out of my eyes.  I loved how vibrant the color is, and how soft the material is.  The headband was made from 80% Nylon and 20% Spandex.  It’s also machine washable which is a huge plus!

Fit Chic Headbands

Working out has really become my passion.  It’s been a little over a year that I have been really and truly committed to exercising consistently.  Over the past year I have done everything including intense cardio workouts like T25, weightlifting like 21 Day Fix and P90X3, powerlifting like Hammer & Chisel, running, yoga, and PiYo. Since I’m working out everyday, I’ve been trying to find clothes and accessories I can wear to run errands in and workout in that are also cute and fashionable.

I was so happy to stumble upon Fit Chic Headbands.  These headbands are handmade and come in over one hundred different colors and designs.   Solids, animal prints, stripes, polka dots, camouflage, and more.  The material is super soft and gentle on your head;  I could barely feel it.  My favorite part of Fit Chic Headbands is how they are versatile.  I liked wearing it wide, right at my hairline when I was working out.

Insanity Max: 30…Week One

After completing PiYo for the past couple of months I decided I wanted to try something new.  I am doing the Spartan Run in a couple of weeks and feel like I need to amp up my endurance.  I decided to do Insanity Max: 30.  I needed a workout that was 30 minutes or less and one that would get me strong.

I have never done an Insanity workout, but I have completed T25.  I thought it would be similar to that.  I was super excited to start!

After the first workout I felt so out of shape; I “maxed out” at 8:12.  I didn’t realize every single day was going to be so intense and so much cardio.  I literally drip with sweat after each workout.

I think it’s great, though.  I am working a lot harder than I did with PiYo, so I think it was a smart choice before doing the Spartan Run.

I am proud to say I completed the first week and am excited for my rest day tomorrow.

Warrior Dash Photos

So they finally posted more Warrior Dash pictures and I just had to share!

The first photo is of me jumping over fire!!! I laugh every time I look at this photo, it just cracks me up.  I was very intense!

This was me doing an obstacle where you walk along a strap a couple of feet above a mud pond and grab onto rope like monkey bars.  Meanwhile, water is pouring down into your face.  I ended up falling into the mud pit.  I was too short to grab the ropes above.

Here is a balance beam two stories high. This was after climbing up a rope wall and I was definitely getting tired.

Muddy Mayhem was the final obstacle.  Crawling in three feet of murky, muddy water under barbed wire was quite the experience.  I could not believe I was actually doing this, I hate getting dirty.

PiYo Fix

Since completing the Warrior Dash I am completely focused on becoming stronger and increasing my endurance.  I signed up for a Spartan run that will be here in two months, so I need to be ready!  I decided I am going to do a hybrid between PiYo and 21 Day Fix.  Here’s the plan:

When I’m beginning a new round of workouts. I write out each workout and highlight them once completed. Some weeks I get off track and am not able to workout every single day. I would always restart the whole program then and get frustrated with myself for restarting. This way I just pick up where I left off. It may take me a few extra days to finish, but at least I feel accomplished and not frustrated with myself.

Warrior Dash 2015

So I was invited to join a team for the Warrior Dash two days before the event. Mind you I have never ever participated in any type of obstacle mud run.  I said, sure, why not.  After I committed, I started googling the obstacles.  I immediately began to freak out. I was so nervous that I wouldn’t be able to complete the obstacles, or would be too scared to even try.  I barely slept the night before.  The day finally came, and I put on my Batman outfit and told myself I could do this.

As I was completing the obstacles I was honestly amazed with myself.  I had not trained at all for the Warrior Dash.  My training was Beachbody workouts, including 21 Day Fix, P90X3, and PiYo.  I completed this event for fun with no expectations, just fear.  In the end, I think I found my calling.  I signed up for a Spartan race in two months and am looking for other mud runs to sign up for.  I am so thankful for my friend for giving me this opportunity and pushing me to challenge myself.  I’m now revamping my workouts to train for the Spartan race.

30 Day PiYo Update

IMG_5567 After 30 Days of PiYo I am proud to say that I have lost 3 pounds and 5 inches all around. FullSizeRender I can honestly say my diet was not the best, and I was on vacation for a week of it.  Overall I’m VERY happy with my results.  My upper body is much stronger and my lower body is really getting toned.  I am truly looking forward to what the next 30 days will bring.

Drench was introduced this week.  This 48 minute workout worked every single muscle in the body.  I was absolutely drenched in sweat.  It is a much more fast paced workout and you do almost every PiYo exercise from previous workouts.  I really enjoyed it, and definitely felt it all over the next day.

Transformation Tuesday

It has been 8 months since I really became serious with my healthy way of life.  I started at 140 pounds and a size 10 almost size 12.  Today I am happy to say I am at 127 pounds and a size 4 almost size 2.  I cannot tell you how much better I feel about myself.  I have energy again, and self-confidence.  I don’t feel sluggish and bloated.

Did it happen overnight? Absolutely not. Was it easy? Heck no.  I worked hard, and stay committed.  I did not give up, and I’m not done yet.  Did I eat like a bird and never eat snacks, desserts, fast food? Absolutely not.  I have found that eating healthy 80% of the time, along with Shakeology daily, has helped me achieve my goals.

If you are ready to make a change in your life, I would love to be your accountability partner.  Being healthy is NOT a destination, it’s a way of life.  Taking the first step is half the battle.  One day at a time.

PiYo: Week Three

Can I just say how much I am REALLY loving PiYo!!!  I finished up Week Three and am officially down 3.5 pounds in 3 weeks.  I am completely happy since I don’t have too many more pounds to lose and my diet has definitely not been the best.  I’m loving the way my body feels longer, stronger, and leaner.  I cannot wait to measure and take pics in a week to see my 30 day results!

This week two new programs were introduced.  Buns and Strength Intervals.  Buns is just under 30 minutes and it does just what it says, works the bum.  Between the countless squats, lunges, and burpees, your legs will be wobbling by the end.  I could definitely feel it in my quads the next day.  I love how Chalean pushes you, without overdoing it.  It is challenging while still being enjoyable.

Strength Intervals was the other new program I hadn’t done yet, and again I loved it.  I think my favorite part was that it only lasted 22 minutes.  But seriously, it is much different than the normal PiYo workouts.  It rotates between a cardio exercise and then a strength exercise.  Compared to a lot of other Beachbody programs like T25, P90X3, or 21 Day Fix, this was much easier.  It was a nice way to get a little cardio in without killing myself, though.

PiYo: Week Two

Chalean introduced a new class this week…Core.   It lasts 30 minutes long and focuses completely on your core.  It was difficult at some points, but just when you are about to give up, she changes the exercise.  My favorite part of this one is the floor work.  My abs were screaming, but I definitely know I will be seeing results.  I’m looking forward to next week where even more workouts are being introduced.
