Life-Changing Magic

IMG_1371Most journals I have used have been blank.  I usually pick ones out that have a pretty cover, or easy to write in pages.  This journal is much different from others I have used.  On every few pages there is a quote that really makes you think about your life and the direction you are headed.  For example, one page says, “Look more closely at what is there.”  I wish there was a quote on each page or every other page, but it’s a nice feature to have.

Another neat aspect of this journal is each day is a page, and each day is broken up into three parts.  You write what year it is in each part.  So in reality, this journal should last three years.  I think what’s cool, is that next year, when I write in it, I can read what I wrote last year at that time.  It’s always nice to reminisce, and this journal makes that part easy.

One Step at a Time

I have gone the past few years living with a lot of anxiety and stress. Many people don’t think I should be stressed. I’m a Stay at Home Mom of two kids, my husband has a great job, we are close with our family, no financial hardships, sounds pretty good? Even I’m convinced. It wasn’t until I read this book, that I realized it’s not my fault I have anxiety. My brain is constantly going 240, and most of the time worrying, or thinking about negative things. Why? I have no clue. This book made me realize that I’m not alone, and that there are real ways to conquer these problems without medication. I refuse to take medication, so I was super excited to find out simple exercises to do to make me a more positive person.

I have not changed over night, or even in a week, but I notice little things. For example, I’m more aware of when I’m getting angry over things I cannot control. When I start thinking negative thoughts, I realize it, and try to pull out a positive. One step at a time I am gaining my life back. The beginning of the book is a little complex with all of the science and psychology, but it’s very interesting and eye-opening.
